The All-American Soap Box Derby Hall of Fame will induct new members during the awards ceremonies Saturday evening.

2008 Inductees

Brooks Townsend - Brooks Townsend won the Anderson Indiana Soap Box Derby in his fourth attempt in 1955. Over the years he has assisted three generations of Townsends in their Soap Box Derby racing activities. The racing track in Anderson is named in honor of the Townsend family.

Don Huminsky - Don Huminsky's relationship with the Soap Box Derby began as a racer in Gary, Indiana in 1947. He won the local race the following year at age 14, and has been involved ever since. He joined the All-American Soap Box Derby national control board in 1979, and served as chief inspector from 1981 through 1995.

Ron Reed - Wood carver Ron Reed has preserved the legacy of 70 years of Soap Box Derby racing by creating miniature models of the top finishing cars in every All-American event throughout its history. Since 1969 he has produced more than 400 replicas, many of which are on display at Derby Downs.

Russ Kinsey - For five decades, Russ Kinsey has been a driving force in Soap Box Derby racing in Mansfield, Ohio, starting as a teenager in 1962 when he organized a Derby booster club. He later promoted the race by staging construction clinics. He is attending his 50th consecutive All-American Soap Box Derby in 2008.
